"This
video is well worth the money you'll spend for it. Not only is Reid a
master watercolorist, but the video is professionally produced, which
means you can see Reid's demonstration with lifelike clarity. Color,
sound, editing and technical reproduction are all excellent. The video
begins with a brief introduction to Reid the artist, with a short
sampling of his paintings. Reid then gets right to work: He introduces
the model and shows how he pencils in the form and selects colors from
his palette. His precision and conciseness in explaining the first
steps continue throughout the video.
The
viewer receives pertinent information, and can then concentrate on what
Reid is doing with his brushes, rather than be distracted by too many
unrelated comments. The lighting is well-balanced, and the camera
refers to the model so that the viewer can compare what is happening on
the painting to the actual scene. Reid takes a break every 15 minutes;
during this time, more of Reid's paintings are shown. This break in
concentration serves to refresh the viewer, just as it does Reid
himself. All in all, this well-paced video is a delight to see, and,
like a good painting, holds up the second time around. You can view and
review this demonstration with pleasure and continue to gain new
insights by studying this master at work."
